Give ample time for your visit. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from the entrance gate to the summit. You don't want to rush through your Haleakala experience!
The weather changes quickly so be prepared with clothes for layering, as it tends to be windy and cold before dawn and after dusk. Wear sunscreen when visiting during the day.
Fill up beforehand as there are no gas stations or food options within the park. Bring snacks and plenty of water to stay hydrated.
